Miscellaneous Benefits from Yemen BENEFIT 62: Obstacles in the path of the Salafi Da'wah
The following points have been summarised from Sheikh Abu Amr's book: عوائق الدعوة السلفية wherein he mentions 28 obstacles along with their evidences. These obstacles are as follows:
1. Lack or deficiency in sincerity Highlight: Whoever is truthful with Allah and works righteous deeds for the sake of Allah will attain success, whether today, tomorrow or the day after. (Sheikh Muqbil)
2. Lack or deficiency in patience Highlight: Patience is necessary with every deed. An action that is void of patience will inevitably result in failure.
3. Being two faced Highlight: two faced people cause others to become doubtful of the truth and accepting of falsehood.
4. Being occupied with the Dunya Highlight: The Muslim government that overcame Kisraa and Qaysar and destroyed the strongholds of Shirk and Kufr was not established on Deenaar nor Dirham, nor was it established on Dunya, rather it was established solely on the dependance and reliance of Allah, and upon privation, poverty and severe hunger...If the daa'ee is preoccupied with the Dunya he will fall short in fulfilling the duty of calling others to the truth; which is the highest rank, the most noble position and the best occupation...likewise if those who are called to the truth are preoccupied with the Dunya they will miss out on the gatherings of knowledge and that which will be of benefit to them in this world and the Next...This doesn't mean we are prohibiting people from seeking provision or that we abandon the Dunya altogether. On the contrary, the Daa'ee should have a source of provision which allows him to concentrate on worshipping Allah and calling to Allah's path such that no one has a favour over him. However, what's prohibited is for one to compromise the Deen for the Dunya and to occupy oneself with that which is surplus to their needs instead of the obedience of Allah.
5. Regression Highlight: The path of Da'wah -as is widely known- is not a path laid with roses, rather the path of Da'wah carries many difficulties, which is why none treads it except the fearless, unmatched men...but due to hardships, the plots of the enemies, lack of patience, perversion in one's heart, etc., some of du'aat fall into a stage of regression and begin to decline until they leave off practicing.
6. MisunderstandingHighlight: The objective of Da'wah is to convey Allah's Deen in a manner pleasing to Allah; this is not possible unless one has a correct understanding of the Book and the Sunnah.
7. Debts Highlight: The Prophet ﷺ sought refuge from debts because they can lead a person to making false promises, lying, deception, etc., all of which are characteristics that a daa'ee should be free from, else their Da'wah will be tarnished and people will be put off accepting their message.
8. HastinessHighlight: Hastiness when it comes to results may push a daa'ee to despair and desperation, and in some cases leaving off the correct, legislated channels in giving da'wah and resorting to false methods.
9. EnvyHighlight: Envy is what removed Iblees from Jannah and led him to being banished from the Mercy of Allah...how many times has envy prevented people from knowingly rejecting the truth?!
10. Disunity Highlight: Ahlus-Sunnah are the furthest from disunity, because they are callers to unity and callers to holding firm to the religion of Allah. So whenever disunity occurs between some individuals amongst Ahlus-Sunnah, this brings harm and weakness to the Da'wah.
11. Begging Highlight: Some of the du'aat (may Allah not reward them with good) have debased and disfigured the Da'wah through their acts of beggary; we need this, we need that...
12. Putting oneself forward before being qualified to do soHighlight: This type of person who puts himself forward for Da'wah is not only preventing himself from acquiring beneficial knowledge, he will also cause more harm than good.
13. Fanaticism towards individuals
