The PLAXIS Barcelona Basic Model (PLAXIS BBM) is used to simulate the behaviour of unsaturated soils. It is based on Bishop’s effective stress and suction as stress variables, accounting for a smooth transition from a partially saturated state to a fully saturated condition and vice versa.

This session builds on last month’s Coffee Corner. It presents a model capable of reproducing an increase in strength with suction and collapse due to wetting, in addition to other typical characteristics of the unsaturated soil behaviour under different loading conditions. Buka / Bagaimana
