2023-12-12 03:58:38 Unisa has made an announcement, please read it here:

https://www.unisa.ac.za/sites/myunisa/default/Announcements/Scam-alert-Fake-application-letter-purporting-to-come-from-Unisa

Unisa calls on its prospective students and other stakeholders to be aware of a fake poster doing the rounds on social media trying to recruit or lure unsuspecting victims into a qualification enrolment scam. Unisa is on record that the poster doing the rounds does not come from the university. It is FAKE news.

Students and other university stakeholders are encouraged to communicate with the university at 0800 001 870 or enquire@unisa.ac.za

We request that students only use official Unisa sites and platforms as any other platforms will provide you with incorrect information and/or act illegally which will be harmful to your studies.

Unisa will always use official communication channels (eg Unisa website, myUnisa, Unisa social media platforms, myLife e-mail) to communicate with students. Unisa does not use Whatsapp as a channel to communicate with our students. Please use the following Unisa platforms for official Unisa information:

2023-12-12 03:57:33 Unisa has made an announcement, please read it here:

https://www.unisa.ac.za/sites/myunisa/default/Announcements/Exam-results-will-be-withheld-if-a-student-is-identified-to-have-been-out-of-the-Invigilator-App-for-more-than-10-minutes

Unisa's online examination rules clearly state that not using the proctoring tools is a violation of Unisa's examination regulations. Furthermore, any student who spends a cumulative total of 10 minutes outside of the Invigilator App during their examination session will be considered to have breached Unisa's examination rules.

This rule was clearly communicated and shared with students in our online examination rules and guidelines through multiple communication channels.

Despite these instructions, a number of students exited or minimised the Invigilator App for a period exceeding 10 minutes during their assessment and therefore violated the mandatory usage of the Invigilator App during their examinations. Accordingly, marks have been withheld.

First-time writing students who have been identified to have been out of the Invigilator App for more than 10 minutes have had their marks withheld and are eligible to rewrite during their next module examination sitting. Second-time writing students have had their marks withheld and will have to re-register for the module(s). Students aggrieved by the university decision may appeal using this form.

We stress the importance of adhering to these rules, as they are in place to uphold the credibility of our examinations and qualifications. All enquiries relating to invigilation should be referred to Proctoringenquiries@unisa.ac.za

2023-11-22 05:39:51 Why You Need UNISA Email Verification

See the post here:
https://unisa-groups.co.za/2023/why-you-need-unisa-email-verification/

TL;DR
We’re adding email verification to our UNISA student community to fight off scams, trolls, cheaters, and bots. You might have to verify your account depending on your activities. If you don’t, your account will be blocked. Don’t worry; your email information is stored securely and is only used for this verification process (and will be sent to UNISA in the case of cheaters).

Why We’re Doing This
Hey, fellow UNISA students! First off, you should know that our community has been up against some challenges. We’re talking about:

Ads unrelated to studying
- Bots sharing inappropriate content
- Scammers pretending to be tutors
- Trolls stirring up drama
- Cheaters damaging our reputation
- People sneaking past bans

The Mechanics of UNISA Email Verification
Let’s get into it. Every Telegram account has a unique ID that stays the same, even if you switch your username. So, to confirm you’re a genuine UNISA student, we ask you to give your UNISA email to a bot. After that, we send you a unique code. You’ll enter this code on a website to verify you have access to that email. Email verification processes are explained in detail on Wikipedia: Account Verification.

What This Means For You
Now, we’re not diving in all at once. We’re introducing this email check bit by bit. Over time, everyone will need to go through it. And to keep things smooth, we’ve set up some triggers to decide when to ask you to verify:

- Usernames with certain buzzwords like ‘forex’, ‘prof’, ‘lecturer’
- Messages in Arabic, Chinese, or Hebrew
- Joining a lot of groups in one semester
- Sending links that just don’t look right
- Sending files (from 04 September 2023)
- Sending pictures (from 05 September 2023)
- All new members of the following group: LJU4801 (from 05 September 2023)
- Joining new groups (from 07 September 2023)

So, if you get flagged for verification, you’ll have minimum 48 hours to complete it. If you miss that window, you’re out of all your groups. Verification will then re-allow you to enter the groups. (Might take up to 24 hours in some cases).

On the other hand, if you verify on time, you wont notice any difference and can participate as usual.

Remember to read the Rules

How Your Email Data is Secure in the UNISA Verification Process
Lastly, you should know that we’re committed to protecting your personal information. We promise not to flood your inbox. The only email you’ll receive from us will contain that unique verification code. Your email details are securely stored in a protected database, inaccessible even to our admin team.

Import Note: we will inform UNISA if someone is cheating on our platform. In this report, we will forward the unique user id, linked email address and any additional relevant proof to UNISA.

Importantly, all data handling is conducted in strict accordance with our privacy policy. By undergoing the UNISA email verification process, you’re agreeing to our privacy policy, so please make sure to read it thoroughly.

Happy Studying!

2023-11-13 10:25:09 Unisa has made an announcement, please read it here:

Unisa is concerned about reported incidents of a fraudulent scam offering to alter students' academic records
It has come to our attention that some students have been approached by individuals offering fraudulent services to alter academic records, particularly, offering to change students’ disciplinary status in order to release student’s marks. These solicitations are part of a scam operation aimed at exploiting students and compromising the integrity of Unisa’s qualifications.

We strongly condemn these illicit activities and are taking immediate steps to investigate the matter thoroughly. We are also working closely with law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible. Unisa reminds students of its zero tolerance for any form of fraudulent or dishonest activity. Students who have been found to have acquired such services will be immediately expelled from the university.

We urge all students to exercise extreme caution and to report any such solicitations immediately to the Ethics Hotline on 0800 075 278 or via e-mail at unisa@thehotline.co.za

Providing personal information to unauthorised individuals not only jeopardises your academic standing, but could also lead to severe legal consequences.
