This bill was added to the senate public safety omnibus overnight and was just posted.
Let’s be thoughtful and respectful in our communications on this. It does not legalize pedophilia or make it a protected class. That is still very illegal. Attacks framed like that distract from the real issue. It lets them focus on us for misrepresenting it instead of why they won’t include the amendment.
Supporters state that definitions don’t outline what a word is- in this case the word is orientation.
The concern is it unnecessarily removes a barrier for those who may try to redefine orientation again later and make it include attraction to minors.
Our ask is that the amendment unanimously passed in the house should be upheld by the senate.
