Gallagher has simplified his game. I think he recognised that he's not the most technically gifted and had to make his game simpler. He has improved his one-touch passing skill, use of space and his passing in general.
The jump in quality he has made this season is something you normally expect him to gather in two or three years. It's like jumping from 50 to 80 instead of 50 to 60.
Declan Rice had that kind of progress too and one thing is certain, it comes from a lot of individual training, trying to improve different aspects of his game at a time. Only workaholics improve at such a rate. It's not something you can do with regular group training time if you are not naturally gifted.
They usually keep going, and that's steady, rapid progress guaranteed. Yaya Toure once said that the difference between average players and average players who turned elite without natural technical talent is extreme individual work and discipline.
And that's spot on!
