FireSideProgress??Well, first it depends with your defination of progress.
Theres a mixture of individual progress and individual collapse... Mudryk for one you can see confidence in possession and dribbling, you can see more attacking movements and play from Gusto. Gallagher and Caicedo confidence is also growing. Even we see Noni trying more shots. Those of us who advocated for Poch hire, it was purely in consideration of his ability to develop players even though we knew he were a tactical shithole .
Well, he has lived his two faces and so far, all this progress has been marred by his fielding Catastrophe and Tactical ingenuity.
First we are not even close to the pressing machine that Tottenham was. We have been all over and lacking in a structural base that would support the team and players strengths
Tactically, Poch at Tottenham was as shit tactically as Potter and you only need to go and check crucial games there and confirm this. His team relied on hustling and running and most importantly players individual brilliance. But the structural pressing system made the players thrive. When he signed at chelsea, he claimed to be better tactically and that he had evolved. Until now, I have not seen anything to support this-his wild wet dreams.
Personally have never understood or seen the importance of fielding Colwil at left back. Have never also understood why a player would perform amazingly in one game and be benched on the next. This in itself curtails progress and morale.
Against Fulham, I'd say we were better structured than any other game I have seen this season. But how we were fumbling towards the end while protecting a single goal like a small team was both pathetic and shameful. Next games are, Liverpool, wolves, crystal, Mancity then Tottenham- Even to a saved guy, this is an obscene set of fixtures that's going to set you on a backslide. I do not think until now I have seen the structural stability to warrant any confidence.
Before trying to be Pep, Poch should first go back to the basics and stick to it for a while. Then we will be fine.
Next, we should discuss the tactical tweeks Poch should make for instant impact. ...and ofcourse the hot topic of Victor Osimhen
