If you have a special needs child in public school, do you know the fire evacuation plan?

This family found out this week that their daughter who uses a wheelchair gets put in a rescue room and has to wait for the fire department to come get her and others that are unable to use the stairs.

If your child has an IEP you may want to find out what the evacuation plan is, and adjust it to cover their safety. Even if they can walk but may freeze in situations like this, you can request a transport chair.

This has been confirmed in at least two MN districts.
