God is the ultimate builder and protector of nations, but he has instructions for the people that participate and contribute to the building process. To the leaders, he says in Proverbs 14:34, that “righteousness exalts a nation…” and to the people, he says in Jeremiah 29:7, to “work for the peace and prosperity” of the nation.

At the Inauguration Service earlier today, I gave a short exhortation on nation-building and gave gratitude to God that we are moving from one democratic transition to another for the seventh time in our political history.

I prayed that the President-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu, the Vice President elect, Senator Kashim Shetima and the new government will grow in stature, in wisdom and in favour with the almighty God in all their days in office and beyond.
