Alex Mendez and his wife were previously charged in 2021 but the new charges are a lot more serious. The charges include conspiracy to commit election fraud, forgery, falsifying records, and witness tampering.

Mendez and others tried “to rig an election in their favor and to deprive the voters of Paterson of having their voices heard,” Attorney General Matthew Platkin.

According to the complaint, the insider alleged Mendez was there as “over 300 mail-in ballots” were placed “into the Haledon postal box.”

Mendez was also caught on audio recording discussing a false cover story that would be used if any person questioned him about those ballots. He also directed people around him to delete any communications of the scheme Buka / Bagaimana

I sure they fully expected that his popularity would have overshadowed his ability to cheat in the primary.
