The explosion of the Kakhovka HPP is a threat to the world's food security, — Oleksandr Haidu, the Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.

Agricultural crops in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions are under threat of destruction. These regions suffer from drought every year and use water from the Kakhovka Reservoir for irrigation. Now farming in these regions is under threat.

The consequences are already very significant for our farmers. It is now impossible to irrigate land in the three regions that depend on the Kakhovka HPP. These regions supply our food to the world. The explosion of the hydroelectric power plant by the russians is not only an ecocide that affects the ecosystem of the entire Black Sea region, but also another attempt by the aggressor to provoke famine in the world, said Oleksandr Gaidu.
